Information for people from Ukraine in need of protection

People from Ukraine in need of protection require health insurance in Switzerland and are entitled to medical treatment. Professionals and refugees can find important health information on the migesplus web platform – also in Ukrainian.

People who have fled Ukraine have often experienced desperate conditions and traumatic situations both in the war and en route. When people in need of protection arrive in Switzerland, they are therefore reliant on useful healthcare information. We cannot expect them to be familiar with our healthcare system. Our national languages are also of little use when communicating with them. To ensure that the refugees nonetheless know as soon as possible how to access healthcare and get medical insurance, the State Secretariat for Migration has published the most important information in Ukrainian on its website.

The migesplus.ch centre of expertise, which is supported by the FOPH, has been providing health information in more than 50 languages for a long time. Anyone who produces information in the languages of the migrant population is invited to publish it free of charge on migesplus. On the new migesplus/ukraine page, healthcare professionals, volunteers and those in need of protection themselves can find information about medical care in Switzerland. The website also has brochures, factsheets and films on many other health topics. Also the popular brochure Health Guide to Switzerland, which explains the Swiss health care system in 19 languages, is now available in Ukrainian.

Medgate Infoline also offers support for those in need of protection. Medgate is now also providing a free hotline for people in need of protection with health-related concerns, in German and English. To expand the offer to include Ukrainian, Medgate is looking for licensed doctors in Switzerland who can speak Ukrainian. Interested persons can register via .
